Dean Hensley is the Assistant Chief at the Waller County Fire Marshal’s Office and Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management in Waller County, Texas.

 

He joined the Waller County Fire Marshal’s Office in 2020 after he retired from the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office as the Chief Investigator. Hensley also spent 38 years as a volunteer and parttime firefighter, and fire investigator with Northwest, Little York, and Cy-Fair Fire Departments in Harris County, Texas.

 

He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the investigations and Emergency Management divisions.

 

He holds multiple fire certifications with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, International Association of Arson Investigators, National Association of Fire Investigators, and the State Fireman’s and Fire Marshal’s Association. He graduated class #3 at the Sam Houston State-Fire Executive Management Training-Law Enforcement Management Institute.

 

He is also a member of the Texas Association of Special Investigators (TASIU) Houston Chapter and serves as the Sergeant at Arms, working with local insurance carriers and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) agents on fraud cases.

 

He works with local school districts in Waller County on their operation plans and lockdown drills, and provides free Stop the Bleed training for all teachers and staff. He also started a smoke alarm and fire extinguisher program for Waller County that provides free devices for families who may not be able to afford them or who may not have a working smoke alarm.
